Internships

Website Content and Social Media Interns

We are seeking creative and energetic volunteers to assist with updating our website and newsletter, expanding VLP’s social media presence, as well as other engaging assignments.

 

Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have strong writing and research skills, technology experience, ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in social media is preferred with a commitment of at least 10 hours per week. Familiarity with law a plus.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Updating and developing library, calendar and other content for VLP’s website
  • Creating content for social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn accounts)
  • Researching blogs/channels to identify opportunities for growth

Administrative/Paralegal Support

Candidates must demonstrate compassion and the ability to work with low-income populations from diverse backgrounds. This important and crucial support will be provided at both of our locations. This is a volunteer position, but we will consider students with Work-Study permissions.

 

Qualifications:

Candidate should have professional experience and be enrolled in or completed a degree and/or paralegal studies program. Fluency in another language preferred but not required (Spanish, Portuguese, Creole, Vietnamese, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin)

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a basic understanding of the organization and office protocol
  • Answer phone calls, greet walk-ins and/or provide information and resources
  • Provide support to administrative assistants, and paralegals/legal advocates
  • Prepare materials for trainings, meetings, legal clinics and or special projects


Requirements:

The candidate needs to have the ability to work a minimum of 12-16 hours per week. They should be able to work independently and collaboratively. Key qualities include strong communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving, multi-tasking and prioritization. A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is preferred.
