Representing Consumers in Small Claims Debt Collection Cases

The BBA presents live webinars and virtual events via Zoom. Please register for this program through your BBA account at least two hours before the start time of the program to receive the Zoom webinar link.

Substantive training will be provided on the debt collection industry, small claims procedure, and common defenses to debt collection cases. Practical training will be provided on how to represent a low-income consumer in the Boston Municipal Court and District Court. This training will allow attendees to review common paperwork submitted by debt collectors to prove their case and how to investigate defenses based on that evidence.  The presenter will conduct a mock small claims debt collection hearing.  By the end of this training, attendees will be able to represent clients in small debt collection cases.  VLP encourages all in attendance to represent a consumer in a small claims case after the training.
